Our instructors teach children's classes all week. A birthday party is the same job with a cake at the end of it.
You are not the one keeping a dozen excited kids organized. Our instructors run the floor the way they run a kids class, with structure, and with everyone's attention in one place.
The entire training floor is matted. Kids can roll, tumble and go full speed on a surface designed for exactly that, which is not something most party venues can offer.
Coquitlam weather does not get a vote. The party happens indoors on the mats regardless of what the forecast decides to do that weekend.
The Honest Version
There is the guest list, the venue, the activities, the question of what to do if it rains, and the part where twelve children arrive at once and look at you expectantly.
Hosting it here moves the hardest part of that off your plate. The activities are planned, the space is ours, and someone whose actual job is holding the attention of a group of kids is the one holding it.
What It Looks Like
Our instructors run the floor with games, movement, and a few beginner-friendly jiu-jitsu techniques mixed in. It is hands-on, it moves quickly, and it is pitched at the age group in the room.
The details vary depending on the group and what you are hoping for, so we go through those with you when you call. That conversation is short and we will be straight with you about what does and does not work for your child's age and guest list.
For Every Guest
Most kids at a birthday party have never set foot in a martial arts academy. That is the normal case, and the party is built around it.
Nothing is technical enough to lose anyone, and nothing is rough. Coaches keep it structured and keep an eye on the room the whole time, the same way they do in our regular Kids Jiu-Jitsu classes.
Where You Are Coming
True North Jiu-Jitsu is at 814 Brunette Ave Unit B, on the Brunette Avenue commercial strip in Maillardville. It is close to the Brunette and Lougheed interchange and roughly two kilometres from the New Westminster line, so guests coming from either side of the boundary have a straightforward drive.

Party dates are limited by the class schedule, so the earlier you ask, the better your options. Call 604-777-0396 or send a note through our contact page with your child's age, the date you have in mind, and roughly how many kids you are expecting.
We will tell you what is available, walk you through how it works, and be upfront if a date does not fit.
What Kids Take Away
The kids come for the birthday. What they usually remember is having tried something they had never done before.
No experience is needed and nobody sits out. Coaches pitch the activities so the confident kids and the shy ones are both doing the same thing at the same time.
Kids at a birthday party have energy to burn. On the mats there is a productive place to put it, which usually means calmer children by the time parents arrive for pickup.
Some kids leave curious about what happens in a real class. A few come back for one. There is no pressure either way, and the party is a party, not a sales pitch.

The entire floor is matted and the activities are chosen for the age group in the room. Nothing is competitive or rough. Jiu-jitsu for kids is taught around control and respect, and a birthday party is the lightest version of that.
Comfortable athletic clothes they can move in, and no shoes on the mats. Nobody needs a gi. Long hair tied back and no jewellery keeps things simple.
No. The party is a party. If a guest or parent asks about our Kids Jiu-Jitsu program we will happily explain it and offer a free trial class, but nobody is going to chase you about it afterwards.
